FAQ
Do you provide meals?
We do not prepare hot meals at Kidz Planet. For a nominal fee you may purchase lunch or dinner from our set menus. We will also provide snack twice a day. (Please see our schedule) We also have chilled water fountains in the play area.
May I bring food for my child and will you help feed them?
You may bring food that can be eaten cold or at room temperature. Staff is required to check food to ensure no peanut or shellfish products are brought into the facility. We have tables at which the children can eat. If you have a younger child, we will assign a staff member to assist or feed them.
Will you change diapers?
We do change diapers, although, we ask that you provide a diaper bag at the time of check-in. We do keep extra diapers on hand for emergencies, but each diaper provided by Kidz Planet will result in an additional $2 charge. We also ask that you bring a change of clothing in case of accidents.
How do you handle a child that is out of control or having a temper tantrum?
All staff members have years of experience dealing with young children and the method that we choose to use is "re-direction" or "distraction" method. We will not use TIME OUT! We realize that children's behaviors change when they are hungry or sleepy, and we will try to provide a snack, drink, or nap. Check our "Policy and Procedure" located on the registration page of this site for a full description of Kidz Planet' discipline policies.
How is the center sanitized?
We only use environmentally safe cleaning products at Kidz Planet. The entire center is cleaned every evening and during slow times throughout the day. We will have kid friendly cleaning station throughout the play area. We encourage the children to wash their hands between each activity.
Is your facility safe and secure?
Security is the main priority at Kidz Planet. We have security cameras that are monitored and recording at all times. Photo identification will be required in all instances to pick up children in our care. In the event of an emergency, if the parent is unavailable, we will contact the "emergency backup" adult listed on your child's information card. We have controlled access entries and use video cameras to identify individuals seeking entrance to the center. Only staff members are allowed in the play areas.
All staff members are required to go through extensive background checks and have first aid and CPR certifications to ensure the safety of the children.
Do I have to reserve a spot for my child?
Since we are a Drop In Child Care, reservations are not required. To guarantee your child a spot, you may call us at 919- 295-4763.
What days are you closed?
We are very seldom closed, except on major and especially family-oriented holidays. Closing schedules will be posted at the center and on our website to give you ample time to make any other arrangements.
Do you charge an enrollment fee?
Registration is free at Kidz Planet.
Will you bill me or do I pay when I check-out?
We do not bill, payment is due at the time of check-out. We accept cash or credit cards. Personal checks are not accepted
Do I get a discount for more than one child?
There is a discount for mulitiple kids. Please see our rates
What happens if my child is sick?
For the sake of your child, our staff members, and other children attending our facility, please send only healthy children to Kidz Planet. Please use the following health guidelines before sending a child to Kidz Planet: • Temperature of 100.4 or higher • Nausea/vomiting • Diarrhea • Red, watery eyes with yellow or cloudy drainage • Undiagnosed rash • Confirmed/Suspected contagious disease (measles, chicken pox, strep throat, pink eye, etc) • Phlegm-producing cough, yellow or green-colored nasal discharge
Your child should not have experienced any of these symptoms for at least 24 before coming to our facility. Kidz Planet must reserve the right to refuse entry or discharge a child early that exhibits any of the above symptoms. If a child does fall ill while in care, they will be separated from the other children and cared for by a staff member. Parents will be notified to pick up the child immediately.
Because we operate on a Drop In basis, only management is allowed to administer medication, and then only during life saving instances, such as Inhalers or Epi Pens. Parents must provide written doctors orders and any possible side effects of the medication.
What if I am running late?
In the event that a parent fails to pick up their child by the center's closing time, or by the previously agreed-upon time (when the parent has been notified that the license maximum enrollment may be exceeded if the child is not timely picked up), a late charge of $2 for every minute after the closing/agreed time will be assessed. At some point after closing, if we have not heard from the parent and unable to contact any person listed on the information card, we will notify authorities.
Will you allow personal blankets, toys or pacifiers to be brought into the center?
We provide light blankets, but do encourage you to bring anything that will help your child remain very comfortable during their rest time. We prefer you do not bring toys to the center but we do understand that a very young child may need his or her special belonging. If that case, please send a bag for the child so we may place the item in it to prevent loss. We have many nice toys and age appropriate activities that will keep your child's interest.
